PUC2 – HELLENIC POLICE: Orchestrated weapons delivery during a Christmas concert
One of the main motivation and concerns of the Hellenic Police, which is the National Police Service of Greece, is the Protection of Public Spaces against acts of terrorism. In this framework, the extensive use of UAVs for malicious purposes poses a direct threat to citizen’s life and at the same time a big challenge to Law Enforcement Agencies.
In the PUC2 scenario, a group of terrorists choose the largest shopping mall in Greece as a suitable target for a drone attack, where a major Christmas concert is being held. Before the attack, they release extremist content on social media and the DarkWeb and they purchase offensive payloads on Darkweb marketplaces. The day of the event, the vigilant security officer reports a swarm of flying drones delivering weapons and other materials such as devices that can disrupt/cut the communication systems of the security guards and the police. The drone swarm carries anti jam and anti-spoof technology. At the same time, some authorised/friendly drones are flying to provide media coverage of the event. Under the cloud of authorised and non-authorise flying drones, the Hellenic Police needs to perform a rapid threat assessment to prioritise decision-making and react rapidly.
The PRESERVE platform will enable Police Authorities to receive all the alerts, while providing real-time risk assessment and decision-support in order to identify non-authorised drones and neutralize them safely.
